Welcome to Sean Connor's Home Page.

I'll get the obligatory  boring bio' stuff out of the way first off.  I am (at last count) a 38 year old electronics engineer currently employed by Mitel Semiconductor as a Characterisation Engineer/Device physicist. I was born in Liverpool and now live and work live in the south of England . I was educated at Prescot Grammar School and then spent nine (yes nine years man and boy !) studying and working at The University of Liverpool. I left Liverpool armed with a Ph.D in Solid State Physics and spent a very enjoyable time as a member of the  Bipolar Development Team at what was then the Plessey company's Caswell Research Centre. After GEC closed the facility I moved back 'up north' and was employed as a Senior Engineer firstly by GEC Plessey Semiconductors and then by Mitel. After the closure of the Oldham site I relocated to sunny Swindon where more recently I have been running the Bipolar Characterization Group. For the past few years I have been a regular atendee and speaker at the  ICMTS   (International Conference on Micro-electronic Test Structures) annual conference. This has enabled me to visit some very interesting places and meet a whole group of like minded  individuals. My main interests outside of work are motor sport (at a safe distance of course !) and horology. I collect examples of early electronic timepieces especially the Bulova Accutron. I am also not averse to the odd pint of foaming ale and a decent curry.  My favourite part of the world most probably has to be northern California, soooo ... if anybody in Silicon Valley is reading this and wants to offer me a job please do so !
